The U. S. Food and Drug Administration today approved the first oral drug to treat erectile dysfunction, the first FDA-approved drug to treat an enlarged prostate.

The Food and Drug Administration is also working on a drug that will be approved for treating pulmonary hypertension in the U. It has received final approval from the FDA for pulmonary hypertension treatment in adults. The drug, which is a combination of two medicines, is already available in the U. and is approved for treatment of both men with and without pulmonary hypertension.
“In the U. S., Viagra is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction, but it’s not the only option available. We have a number of other medications available for pulmonary hypertension, which are currently being evaluated in the U. We are working on more, more studies, which will enable us to find a more affordable treatment option for these patients,” said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, director of the Healthline Center for Public Health. “The FDA is also working on a drug to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia and pulmonary hypertension.”
